As we mentioned in our previous post, we want to focus your attention on an essential part of your home – the windows. Knowing more about the technology that goes into making your windows useful can help you to be more capable when it comes to addressing issues with your windows.
This time, our focus is on Low-E windows. If you’ve never heard of “Low-E” before, it might help to know that this term stands for “low emissivity.” You’ve probably already guessed it, but the goal of this window technology is to reduce the infrared and ultraviolet radiation that is emitted through the window. This goal is accomplished by an invisible coating on both sides of the window that blocks radiation, leaving outside temperatures outside and inside temperatures inside. Low-E windows can be relatively expensive, but they can also save money in the long run due to their energy efficiency.
