Your windows are undoubtedly an essential part of your home. Homeowners want to see the natural beauty that surrounds them outside of their homes. For that reason, we’d like to spend some time discussing the modern technologies that are present in the windows of many homes. Knowing more about your windows can help you understand why issues may be happening.
For our first topic, we’d like to talk about the way double-pane windows work. Despite the straightforward nature of their name, double-pane windows are more than just a couple of layers of glass. Between the glass panes is also a “layer” of special gas, usually krypton or argon, that acts as an insulator. The gas can also prevent fogging and condensation. In addition to the gas, the spacer that ensures a gap between the two panes of glass usually contains a desiccant, which is a fancy word for a material that keeps your windows moisture-free.
