First, make sure you hire a qualified pest inspector to fully inspect your home/building for termites. Termites are extremely difficult to find. By nature, they tend to hide deep behind walls and in framing to avoid predators. But before you go pulling down any sheetrock looking for them, look for mud tubes first. Mud tubes are tunnels that termites build to be able to move around.
If you are able to find some of their damage, make sure it is termite damage. even experience pest control operators mistake termite damage for carpenter ant damage. Compare to the picture below. Notice the “frass” packed into the tunnels. carpenter ants keep their tunnels clean, whereas termites don’t. Questions? Contact me!
